White teeth with braces..possible?

last june, i got braces, and since then, my teeth have looked kind of yellowish. i know that they're not really yellow, but they're definitely not as white as i want them to be.

is there any way that i can get my teeth white without getting the checkerboard effect once i get my braces off?

i've already asked my dentist about whitening rinses and toothpastes, and he said those won't work, they'll just create the checkerboard effect.

White teeth with braces..possible?
My braces left me with some spots..they aren't very noticable at all, though.

When I had braces, and even now without them, I brushed my teeth three times a day. Make sure to clean all the food out of them. The more you clean them, the less chances of white spots!
Reply:I think you should just wait until you get the braces off. Then, whiten them with all the stuff your dentist said not to use.
Reply:you could still go ahead and use some whitening rinse and then when you get your braces off you can get your teeth bleached.
