Operating on teeth vs braces?

I am 18 years old and was told by my dentist that I should probably get braces. However, getting braces is going to take 2-3 years and is going to cost over 10,000 dollars. I have heard about people getting their mouths opperated on to streighten/whiten their teeth. I am thinkign that getting my mouth operated on would be easier then having braces on for 3 years. Do you know how much it would cost to have an operation on your mouth? I cant imagine it would cost that much more then the 10 000 dolars you would have to spend if you got braces. Which option do you guys reccomend I take?

Operating on teeth vs braces?
Since your quote was so high, I would suggest getting

a second opinion. Both by an orthodontist and oral surgeon

for surgery/operation, as well as a good general dentist.

Also, since your cost is so high, you would be well advised

to look for savings through the Orthodontist4Less membership.
Reply:First of all....braces don't cost 10000 dollars!!!! Mine were 5000....or you can go the shorter route with Lumineers....My boyfriend paid about 1200 dollars a tooth.
Reply:Wow getting an operation sounds more painful than braces!

Just get braces. I got mine a few months ago and I already forgot that I had them. Sure they hurt for a couple of days every month but that's the only problem once you get used to them. If your teeth aren't severely crooked to where they affect your health, then don't get that dumb operation. It sounds more expensive than having metal on your teeth for a few years.

They make clear braces now. I have them. The squares that go on your teeth are clear so from a distance it doesn't even look like you are wearing braces. Up close it just looks like a wire running arcross your teeth and that's it.
Reply:I'd go for the operation, it's a more permanent solution. WIth braces, you'll still have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life to prevent your teeth from reverting back to their previous positions!

I don't think that braces cost that much, but they can be painful and are aesthetically unpleasant.
