Getting gap between my teeth from braces?

I've had braces for about half a year now. I understand getting the gaps have to do with the realignment of my teeth, but recently today I realized I was starting to get a gap between my two front teeth, and I got my braces tightened about 3 weeks ago...is this normal?

wow, i have exactly the same thing. Do you have that one thing on the roof of your mouth...I think it is called the expander? I don't know why it is there though. I hate the gap though, I have had it for a few months. I think it is normal, and it should go away in a while..that is what my ortho said.

btw, thanks to the person below me...i didnt kno that.
Reply:I would be surprised if that was the plan of your orthodontist to cause a gap (unless you have an expander too). You should call on Monday and ask for him/her to take a look at it as you are concerned. The doctor will tell you if that is in their plan, or if it needs to be corrected.

Freshie - the expander will cause a gap. That gap will be closed later when the braces are put on and/or tightened.
Reply:uhh...yeaa.i think idk? i have braces too. that happened to me but i had an expander. .....but im sure your ortho. will fix it=// hopefully=]]
Reply:Dont worry about it, I am having the the exact same problem.I have spaces between certain teeth that I did not have before I got my braces. Just give it a little more time. I have been told by others, that when your teeth hurt, then they are moving...I am getting worried myself about the spaces that I am getting. Dont worry they are sure to close. Braces cost way too much not to work.
