White teeth with braces, what can i do??

ok well. i've had braces ever since the summer of 2004. (long time i know). ever since then, my teeth aren't the whitest they could be. I brush 3 times a day (after i wake up, before i go to bed, after i shower or before i go out somewhere) but they still aren't the way i want them to be. the part that's mainly dis-colored is a small part around the bracket and the part under the wire that connects the brackets... I use whitening toothpaste with scope and i clean out the food after every meal or after i eat anything that can get stuck in my braces.





any suggestions?

just have to say, dont we ALL want our teeth to be white with braces?!?! Im right here with you buddy. lol. So there was this one time when i was little and i forgot to brush my teeth for like a week because i didnt like to, and my mom got SOOO mad so i went and brushed my teeth for 2 to 5 minutes. After my teeth were like REALLY CLEAN and REALLY WHITE...but i didnt have braces.. i think the only thing that we can do is just stick it out until the end, but keep doing what we do. Just brush for a little longer and maybe use mouth wash. After braces, just whiten your teeth......at least thats what i might do [[alison uses them at least lol]]

oh and another thing, maybe try a new toothbrush because your one that you have right now might be old and not work as well. also, try brushing a little bit harder. you can try flossing with these special braces flossing things, just ask your dentist or someone for the ones that have a hard end, they work better than the blue loopy things... =]

Reply:I would not worry about the color of your teeth until the braces come off because the Orthodontist is going to polish them. I would be more concerned about not gettting cavities.
Reply:because you are such at the age they look yellow to you because you are wearing them and to other people they don't that is just the braces itself plus if you use fluoride that causes that and the fluoride and the glue that is coming off normal

Reply:get a firm bristle brush that has closely packed bristles, then brush with a whitining paste. also floss

I just got my braces off- eck. There weren't like, random stains- but not exactly pretty, either. Wait till you get them off- it's more noticable then (I know that doesn't make you feel much better), and then use a whitening product. It'll help, trust me.

Reply:DON'T use whitening with braces. Your teeth will be discolored when they come off. I'd ask your dentist what the best solution would be. And some advice: be sure to take good care of your gums when you have braces, not just your teeth. Gum disease tends to occur in people who have braces, and the surgery to correct it is not pleasant (just advice from someone who's been though it).
Reply:My dentist told me not to worry about the whitening until the braces come off because if you whiten them now you'll still have darker spots where the brackets are glued on...so she said once I get them off then I'll go in for whitening.

just brush your teeth with baking soda.

fact: a cremy white/yellow color means you have healthy teeth..unless you smoke. ;p
Reply:nobody is going to notice the color of your teeth when you have braces best thing to do is save up a bit of money like 500.00 to get the bleached when the braces come of a wow great looking teeth. btw good for you for taking care of your teeth!
Reply:after you get your braces off,bleach them at the dentist. it is expensive ,but it is worth it!
Reply:ask ur dentist, maybe ur not brushing well enough, and id be careful with braces because once u get them off, the little square in the middle where the metal used to be will be white and around it will be yellow. to clean out the germs really well, boil some salt water, (not too hot), and gargle with it.
Reply:Wait until, the medicine inside of your braces destroy all the cavity, bath breathe, and other problems. Than your braces will come off and you will get white teeth.
Reply:your doing everything right it sounds like maybe check with your orthodontist they might show you if your doing something wrong. when they finally take them off they whiten them ... or you can just go do that although its expensive :) good luck
