How much do braces (teeth) cost for children in the US (Midwest)? I have 2 kids (ages 7&8) and their dentist?

has said they both are going to require braces. Our dental insurance has no orthodontic coverage! I am freaking out! My daughter has teeth that look like they're coming in like mine and I needed braces as a kid but I didn't get them and I needed them. I have TMJ and often wonder if I had of gotten braces as a child would I be suffering from this? Do you think it is completely necessary to have braces put on them (both) I know this is hard when you can't see their mouths and every situation is different but I am just curious to see what you would do if the dentist said they needed them but you have no ins. coverage? Is getting braces put on/taken off painful? And what age did you have your braces put on? It seems like they're putting them on kids younger and younger these days. I know this is more than 1 question but I hope you can help anyways! Thanks a bunch! =)

As others have said, the cost depends on where you live. National average is about $5000.

There is a dental/vision/Rx/chiropractic plan that would save you between 50-60% on the cost of braces. Thats a big chunk of change that gets to stay in your pocket! The plan is only $19.95/month for an entire household. No waiting periods, no limits on visits or services. You simply get a discount every time you use your card. Savings are up to 80%. Bare minimum savings is 25%, and that is on highly specialized and cosmetic work. More common procedures see higher savings.

This site has info on the plan, and a link to enroll: www.everyonebenefits.com/burke

Good luck with your kids! I was supposed to have drastic orthodontic work done too, but they told me it was best to wait until after age 18, otherwise the teeth can still shift and undo all the orthodontic work.
Reply:I live in Jersey and they are about $2000. but if you have health insurance, they would pay for it and it shouldnt be a problem.
Reply:How much braces costs depends on where you live, what orthodontist you go to and how long it takes to fix their teeth--- it will be at least a few thousand dollars per child. Next time you take them to the dentist ask them to recommend an orthodontist and schedule a consultation apt. The orthodontist will do a few tests and be able to give you an estimate of how much orthodontic work they'll need and what it will cost. (they probably should not get braces until they have all of their adult teeth though)

Getting braces put on and taken off does hurt because traditional braces are glued to your teeth. It usually hurt for about a week every time I got my braces tightened. I've heard the new progressive tray systems are less painful, but they're also more expensive and they weren't an option for my orthodontic problems, so I don't really know if they're an option for your kids.

I had my first oral surgery for my teeth done at age 8, but I didn't start braces until 13, and I only had an orthodontic mouthpiece for the first year before I moved on to full braces.
Reply:The cost of braces depends on some factors especially in th case of children. Some of this factors are the location of the teeth, then number of teeth involve, the dentist , the area, etc. However the actual price in USA ranges from $50 to $500. Little children can have braces but stictly on the advice of a doctor. You can go to http://toothwhitning.fateback.com for more information especially the cost in USA as you desire. You will also be able to get links to the best Dentist you can go to in your area in this website.
Reply:To help you save money on your procedures, I would suggest using a dental benefits plan. Any dental work is expense, so it is wise to go with a plan that will save you money. I have a dental plan that is very affordable for my family. They have been around for 15 years and are the #1 Provider Access Organization in the U.S. It is only $19.95 for an entire household. If it is just you, then the cost is only $11.95 a month. There is no deductible or co-pay. Cosmetic procedures are covered. All specialists and even braces are covered. There are no caps or limits utilizing the benefits. The providers within the network are of high quality and value. Do your research at http://Stacie.OneSimpleCard.com . This plan may be of good use for you. I hope this info is helpful for you. Have a good day.
