Extracting teeth for braces?? Lumineers?

well i'm going to have braces put on my upper row of teeth but only two teeth are misaglined. do i need to extract two teeth just to put braces on? and how long will it hurt after extracting the teeth? i also saw an advert on this product called lumineers that acts like braces in certain teeth misaglined cases but does not require extraction of teeth and is not as visible as braces. any one used it before? does it really help?

Extracting teeth for braces?? Lumineers?
Some people need to have teeth removed before they get braces. I did. There wasn't enough room in my mouth for all of my teeth to fit in my mouth once they were straight. It only hurt a little, very mild. Its not like having your wisdom teeth out, that hurt a lot more. It went away after a day or two.

Lumineers are veneers that go over your existing teeth. They don't align teeth, but they can make some mild cases of crooked teeth look straighter. They are usually used for chipped or stained teeth or to fill spaces between teeth.

You may be thinking of Invisalign. Its a clear plastic thing kind of like a retainer that fits over your teeth and pushes them into place similar to the way braces work. Its very hard to tell that someone is wearing them. Plus you can take it out to eat and brush your teeth. You put a new one in every few weeks, and that is what moves your teeth.

Reply:HELLO,

A THOROUGH ANALYSIS MUST BE DONE OF YOUR SMILE AND A CONSULT AS TO WHICH COMES OUT MORE EXPENSIVE.

THERE ARE ADVANTAGE TO BRACES OVER LUMINEER VENEERS. THE BEST IS THAT IN THE FUTURE THERE IS NOTHING WITH THE POTENTIAL OF CHIPPING OR BREAKING.

TO ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULTS POSSIBLE, EXTRACTIONS FOR THE BRACES MAY BE NEEDED.
Reply:Your Ortho can tell you if you need extractions. I had 4 pulled for braces because there wasn't any room. I think the ones you saw on tv were Invisalign? It's clear and removable. More discret than traditional metal braces. But pricey though. The Lumineers are caps they place on your teeth. No drilling or shaving needed. It's placed on top of your teeth. I have 2 in the front to fix a gap. It's more expensive than reg veneers though. Best to ask your doc which option is better for your teeth. Good luck!
