Just got braces, my teeth aren't fitting together!?

Ok, so yesterday I got braces on both my upper and lower. They are absolutely killing me!!! The problem is that now my teeth at the back aren't fitting together which is making it even more painful when I chew! Will this pass or should I go back to my dentist?

Reply:It will pass. For the next few days stick to things like soup, mashed potatoes and pudding etc. Things that are soft and easy to eat.
Reply:dont worry, its the process in getting braces. i have braces too, and when i got them at first i had a situation like yours. it hurts alot doesnt it?! oucch! just hang in there, and if it really hurts alot take some advil or any other painkillers, but not too much! when your eating take slow, careful bites, and chew thoroughly! (this is good for a healthy body and for dieting too! [:)





eat soft foods, such as mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs w/ a little milk mixed in (it makes the eggs alot softer and yummier!) thick soups so you wont go hungry, and ice cream or a icy slushie (jamba!) for desert and to numb the pain!

Reply:YES!! totally had this problem, i thought the orthodontist had placed them too high up on both back teeth. I would be eating %26amp; it would be like Clang! when they hit together it was a horrible feeling. But after around two weeks once i started eating proper food again %26amp; chewing thoroughly the feeling totally subsided %26amp; they felt normal again, no more clanging.

It may in the sense that your teeth are shitfing all ready'


the other reason this may not cahnge is they make have but in bite stops which stop your top and bottom arches form touching completly, so you don't bite off your bottom brackets.


But please ask your ortho.
