Teeth Braces?

do they hurt when they're put on?

Teeth Braces?
i JUST got my braces on, today. they really do hurt. but its orht it after. My older sister had the most crooked teeth and now they are perfectly straight. it doesn't hurt when they put them on, except the pieces that go over your molars, but that pain stops really quickly. Really, the only pain is the soreness afterwards. and truely, on a scale of 1-10 is hurts on about a 2. so no big pain. and if you only need teeth straightened it will be a hole lot easier, i had to get teeth pulled, teeth clean, about 14 spacers. Yeah so, its not bad.
Reply:had my braces put on, and actually they didnt hurt! Report It

Reply:Braces do not hurt when they are being placed on. Your teeth will become sore later after the wire is placed on.
Reply:it really depends on who you are and what your pain tolerance is.but other wise no they don't hurt.
Reply:I had braces for years, and they only hurt when they were tightend or when they rubbed against my inner cheek. This was ten years ago so I assume brace 'technology ' has improved since then.
Reply:Nope--just after the doctor tightens them! It might hurt to eat harder foods for a couple days after each tightening (for some reason, I remember cheerios being particularly painful.) Don't worry--it's worth it!
Reply:It does not hurt when they put them on BUT it does hurt when they put the spacers in to make room for the brackets that they put in between your teeth. It also hurts when they tighten your wires but it's usually over in a day 1/2 or so. Beauty is pain :O)
Reply:They don't hurt when they are being put on, but after they are adjusted each month and tightened, they can become bothersome and a little uncomfortable.
Reply:I had braces for three years and to be honest, I never found them particularly painful. They were uncomfortable at times, of course, but once you get used to them you will be fine. When I got mine off my mouth actually felt strange and empty because I'd had them for so long!

If you find when you first get them on that you are in a lot of pain, it is ok to take a mild painkiller. Eat soft foods, things like soup etc and after a few days you should be back to your usual self! If you just think about having a beautiful smile afterwards you'll get through it, no problem!

Best of luck :)
Reply:Getting braces on is cake. The adjustments may leave you sore, but it is not a sharp pain or anything... You can deal with it pretty easily. Dont worry about it as the results are so worth the years of treatment and going to the ortho every month.
